According to PAHO data, Argentina report an increase of Zika cases as of week 12 2025, compared to the same period of 2024: Since beginning of 2025 and as of week 12 497 cases (cumulative incidence 1.08) have been reported compared to zero cases in the same period of 2024.
Please note that these data represent the entire country, as PAHO does not provide subregional details.
Zika is endemic in Argentina. CDC does not classify Argentina as an area with a current Zika outbreak (for outbreaks, see CDC Zika Travel Health Notices).
Prevention: Optimal mosquito bite protection 24/7, also in cities (during the day against dengue, chikungunya, Zika and other viruses, at dusk and at night against malaria).
Travellers should be aware of the ongoing Zika risk in Argentina and that Zika virus infection during pregnancy (any trimester) can cause fetal malformation as it is the case for other infections during pregnancy. For detailed ECTM recommendations on Zika, see LINK.
